not a very elegant proposal. some generic examples would be:
  [purpose].[([location1]-[location2])].[([location])].domain.ext
purpose can be something like a ge fiber line with detailed options.
location1-location2 is something like SanJoseCA.US or SanJose-CA.US

network device naming really depends on how big you are, how much
equipment, peering, etc. you have to work with.


type[-options]-proto.city-state.country.domain.ext

Internal NOC usage:
rt8v4.sfo.unoc.net *condensed
